Issue 07-2023:

Barriers to online shopping

By Domingos De Oliveira (netz-barrierefrei.de):

Dear fellow readers,

It is becoming increasingly clear that a lack of accessibility will have negative consequences in the medium term. Two interesting recent news items illustrate this point: The state of California will tighten its digital accessibility laws. Due to the state's size and purchasing power, this typically has an impact across the entire US. Furthermore, the US government is mandating the use of only accessible video conferencing systems. Some providers are likely to lose significant market share as a result of this decision, having consistently ignored the issue despite numerous warnings.
